Rhett -

I’ve watched Parts 1, 2 & 3 – a couple of thoughts…

Part 1:

1. the whole ancient-current tension/harmony reminds me of "the church reformed, always being reformed"

2. Liturgy Unplugged - you both laughed a bit about this, but I find myself asking, what would this REALLY look like? or be like?

3. "Porous Wall" - nice concept...I'm mulling it over

Part 2:

1. “given the name The Advocate” - by whom? Just curious…seems like someone (Someone?) had a vision for the community

Part 3:

1. The first chunk (5 minutes or so) of this section feels a little bit insider-outsider – not because of the topics about which you talk (which, indeed, are outward focused), but because of the local Carrboro/Chapel Hill lingo/language…which may be exactly what you want – just thought I’d share my reaction

2. It then becomes much more accessible (I think) – more applicable. When you moved to “how the Advocate came to be”, I was instantly re-engaged

Peace,
Katherine

I’ve watched Parts 4, 5 & 6 – a couple of thoughts…

Part 4:

1. “intentional yet informal” worship style…I’d love to see/hear more about what this looks/feels like

2. This whole part about Lisa’s calling to this role – it’s intriguing (to me) that she manages to disclose nothing about her household situation

Part 5:

1. “the church as the portal between the secular and the sacred” – interesting thought….I certainly (and completely) understand the intent, but I wonder about how folks would “fill in the blank” – say if we prompted them: “Fill in the blank: ________ is the portal between the secular and sacred” – no clue what I would say, but it’s been fun to think about. 

Part 6:

1. nice thoughts – how would folks “act out” someone else’s genuine call? Hmm….

Finally – language for God --- I, as you may suspect, talk more about God than Jesus – I hear than same tendency in Lisa – not sure if it applies to her preaching and her ministry at The Advocate, but it’s interesting (to me – in a good way) as we think about what it means to “be church”

LOVING this….looking forward to hearing the next one

Peace,
Katherine
